Route 180. Federal highway A180 "Narva"

Route 180. Federal highway A180 "Narva"

Tallinn highway, as the common people call the former federal highway M-11 "Narva" St. Petersburg - Ivangorod - border with Estonia.

At the moment - this road has a different account number. Now this federal highway A - 180 "Narva".

The short but important highway M-11 (A-180) is a small section of the European route E 20.

Thousands of our fellow citizens go along this road on entertainment and sightseeing trips to the neighboring state of Estonia. This usually happens on weekends and holidays, and every year the cargo-passenger flow only increases.

The total length of this highway M-11 (A-180) is approximately 142 km.

The entire route passes in a flat and wooded area.

The temperature regime is even, without sudden changes. Fogs are frequent on this highway in spring and autumn.

The road surface is asphalt concrete, the width of the roadway is 8 meters.

On the way there is a detour of the city of Kingisepp (3 km).

The A-180 (M-11) “Narva” highway crosses water barriers. These are rivers: Narva and Luga. Bridge crossings have a carrying capacity of 60 - 80 tons.

Drivers should pay attention to the sharp turn (57 km) along the M-11 highway.

On the whole, the M-11 Narva highway leaves a neutral impression. There are broken sections of the road, but there are also good ones. The main thing is to carefully monitor the road, especially in the foggy morning hours, and be sure to observe the speed limit when driving through settlements.

E 20
Until the end of 2010, the federal highway "Narva" had registration number M11, now its number is A180. The road starts from St. Petersburg through Ivangorod to the border with Estonia. In everyday life, this route is called the Tallinn highway. She happens to be small plot European route E 20. The road runs entirely through the Leningrad region.

The length of the A180 "Narva" highway is 112 kilometers with a width of eight meters of the carriageway. The road surface is asphalt concrete in a satisfactory condition. The weather feature of this road is frequent fog in spring and autumn, so drivers need to be especially careful. Along the route, you should also pay attention to the sharp turn on the 57th kilometer of the A180 road. Fogs are often observed on the track in spring and autumn, which can cause accidents, so be careful in either of these two seasons.

Federal highway A180 "Narva" passes through the settlements: St. Petersburg, Krasnoe Selo; Kingisepp the route bypasses by a bypass road, three kilometers long; Ivangorod.

The M-11 highway crosses the Narva and Luga rivers. A four-lane automobile bridge with an interchange on the right bank and a carrying capacity of 60-80 tons was built across the Luga River.

On the road, there are a small number of petrol stations, food and traffic police posts, motels. The sights of this road are located in the vicinity of the cities of St. Petersburg, Kingisepp and Ivangorod. The track runs through a flat area covered with forests.

The federal highway M-11 "Narva" (A 180 "Narva") originates in St. Petersburg and ends in Ivangorod at the Ivangorod checkpoint. The track condition is good enough. From Kingisepp to the border - great.

The road has one lane in each direction. Since the route is borderline, the traffic on the route is quite dense. Approximately 5 kilometers from Ivangorod, the first passport control point is located (earlier it was closer to the city, now it has been moved a little). After this point, the entire right side of the road is occupied by trucks waiting for their turn at the border.

If Ivangorod is not your final destination and you are planning to cross the border with a preliminary refueling (in Estonia, the cost of gasoline is 2 times higher), then keep in mind that there are 4 gas stations between the entrance to the city and the Ivangorod checkpoint (3 on the left side and one on right). After passing through passport control at the entrance to the checkpoint, at the checkpoint itself, stand in the extreme right lane, this lane is intended for Russian cars.

In order not to hang in line at the crossing, try to catch it before 9 am. After 9, the queue grows before our eyes and by 10 o'clock in the morning the entire passage from the Estonian to Russian checkpoint is densely packed with cars. It is impossible to unequivocally assess the severity of the inspection on the Estonian and Russian sides, once it is not necessary. They can inspect with dogs, or they can do a cursory inspection. If you arrive at the crossing at 7-8 in the morning, then it will take about 30 minutes to cross the border, perhaps this is the shortest crossing time.

To enter Russia from the Estonian side, there is a preliminary registration in the electronic queue (there is such a queue for leaving Russia only in the town of Pechera, Pskov region, the Kunichina Gora checkpoint, at the other checkpoints it is not). You need to register in the queue, either directly at the border. Registration is paid (6.5 euros, more precisely, see the registration website) and mandatory, without it you will not go back to Russia. It is better to register in advance, otherwise you will end up in a live queue, and there you can stand for a very long time, especially if you plan to return to Russia on Sunday or immediately after the holidays.

As for the transportation of alcohol and cigarettes to the territory of Estonia, here, so as not to fall under the distribution of buns in the form of extra. payments, it is better to adhere to their rules - 2 packs of cigarettes and a liter of strong alcohol (champagne for some reason is considered a strong drink, but wine is not, you can carry up to 5 bottles) per person. The duty free system at the border is arranged in a fairly Jesuit way - it works only in the direction of the exit. Accordingly, everything that you bought in a dutik at the border in excess of the norms allowed in Estonia, you must drink and smoke before crossing the Estonian border or pay a duty there. You can get around this moment only on the way back and as follows:

You move to the Russian side, return on foot to the crossing and cross the Russian border. You go to a duty shop and buy whatever you want, then, without entering Estonian territory, you return back.

If the route of your travel further runs through Estonia, then keep in mind that the rules of the speed limit are very strictly observed there (in general, all the rules are very strictly observed) - 50 km / h in settlements and 90 - 110 km / h (where such speed allowed) outside of them. There are video recorders along all Estonian roads (and also marshals ride in cars without special signs) and fines for violation are very high. The admissible limit deviation is 7 km / h. "Agree" with the police will not work, do not even try.
