Exercises to restore the activation of the functions of the hypothalamus. Meditation treatment

Exercises to restore the activation of the functions of the hypothalamus. Meditation treatment

In the last issue of the Be SvetoM magazine, we met with neurons, in this we learn about the important role of the general of the brain - the hypothalamus and his wife-general - the limbic system. And next time we will get acquainted with the pituitary gland and the pineal gland - the active-important glands of the brain, in which the divine game of the whole Universe unfolds.

All our problems are most often associated with our emotions. Whether we rejoice or suffer, love or hate, we are in a state of emotional excitement, which, in one way or another, entails various consequences associated with the general state of our physical and mental health. An emotion like fear, for example, can prompt the limbic system to trigger the body to release certain hormones that will trigger a physiological response in the body. In two words, the main function of the limbic system can be called "the interpretation of thoughts and feelings and the translation of these psychological states into physiological actions." Dr. Stanley Keleman believed that fear suppresses the brain, anger makes it overactive, sadness reduces it, and resistance strengthens it.

Limbic lobe of the brain (the physiological location of emotions), which relates to deep emotional states, surrounds the hypothalamus. Hypothalamus often referred to as the "brain of the brain" because he is the central control board in the body.

Functions of the hypothalamus: regulating body temperature, thirst, hunger, cold, blood sugar, growth, sleep and wakefulness, as well as emotions such as anger and happiness. Under the hypothalamus is the pituitary gland, the main gland that produces secrets (hormones) that control the activity of many other glands in the body. All three of these elements - the limbic lobe, hypotolamus, and pituitary gland - form the "limbic system" that responds to every emotional state.

What is the main “receiver” of stimuli of the immune system, information received from the outside that forms the basis for emotions from numerous sources, such as the five senses? That's right, the hypothalamus!

Depending on the message (impulse) transmitted by the hypothalamus to the thymus and adrenal glands, which affects the metabolic and immune systems of the body, our state also changes. For example, when we experience the same fear, we feel anxiety in the stomach, our palms become wet, i.e. our body, thanks to the limbic system, changes under the influence of what it sees.

Certain receptors (senses) of the limbic system have been found in lymphocytes of the immune system throughout the body. Scientists have shown that lymphocytes can respond to molecular messengers created by thoughts and feelings. Hence, we can conclude that problems with the lymphatic system and lymphocytes, as well as with all functions, the work of which depends on hypotolamus, are associated with the emotional background of a person, which can both beneficially and adversely affect his nervous system and mental state, as well as lead to more serious physiological disorders.

Here I would also like to note one more finding of scientists who have proved a direct ojas connection with the limbic system and the hypothalamus... Researchers call "ojas" a kind of biochemical substance that more than anyone else has to do with our emotions. Accordingly, the brighter our emotional background, the greater the loss of ojas and, accordingly, the "irritation" of the hypothalamus. If our emotions are negative, our brain is constantly under stress, which sooner or later leads us to serious illness. All these problems are associated with the upper spiritual centers (chakras).

Many scientists are working to achieve results in the knowledge of the human psyche. And most of them come to the conclusion that each of us is constantly exposed to the environment. For example, P. Anokhin writes: “Some influences are insignificant or even unconscious for a person, but others - as a rule, unusual ones - cause a response in him. This response is in the nature of an orientation response and is a stimulus for the manifestation of activity ".

Stressful situations determine the wear and tear of our body. This proves once again that everything in this world is food absorbed by us inside (into the mind, consciousness or stomach), and our life and death depend on the quality of this food.

If you do an SPECT scan of the whole body, the brain looks luminous, and the rest of the body appears ghostly against its background. The brain is a representation of the person: it makes you who you are.

« Brain control is the key to wellness and health. Whether you live a long life, whether an illness undermines your strength, or a terrible illness ends life prematurely - your brain is at the center of all these events. Researchers from Cambridge in England found that people who make the wrong decisions cut their lives by 14 years. Heavy drinkers, smokers, physically inactive, malnourished people at the age of 60 have the same risks as those leading a healthy lifestyle at 74. This means that the decisions that the brain makes can steal years of your life from you or add them. "(Daniel Amen).

If we are already talking about the functions of the brain, then we should also draw your attention to the fact that each person has a different "brain reserve". The more reserve you have, the better you deal with unexpected changes and adversity. The smaller the reserve, the more difficult it is for you to get through difficult times and the sooner you are inclined to resort to sweets or alcohol to cope with the difficulties. Increasing the “brain reserve” can only be achieved by learning how to relax it through yoga, meditation, positive thinking and vision.

"If in the near future the world endows its diplomats, policymakers, legislators, residents with proper endocrine glands, especially the anterior pituitary gland, and slightly suppresses the adrenal cortex, there may be no more wars." - Samuel Willis Bandler. Endocrine glands.

This epigraph shows the degree of importance of such an endocrine organ as the pituitary gland in the evolution of mankind and the transition from the third density of dividing self-awareness to the fourth density that unites love and understanding.

“Something, albeit little, is known about the pituitary gland, but its particular importance (since it affectspsychological reactions of a person) is not yet sufficiently understood ”.

These words spoken by Djual Khulom almost a hundred years ago, the general understanding of the pituitary gland practically did not change, and modern endocrinology still wanders in the darkness of physiological dogmas and hormonal experiments.

However, to shed light on one of the main glands in our body, which Manly Palmer Hall, a famous occultist and encyclopedist, described as “ the key to understanding bodily harmony, because it is " barometer "of the entire chain of endocrine glands, necessary. Indeed, among the symbolic names of the pituitary gland there is the Holy Grail, the tail of the Dragon of Wisdom (the head of the Dragon of Wisdom is the pineal gland), "the bridge of the mind." In addition, under "Marriage "meant the marriage union of the Sun (pineal gland) and the Moon (pituitary gland) in the brain.

It is also necessary to study the topic of the main glands of the body because, in my opinion, in connection with the changes in the planet that have come into force and the current - by the cyclical process of the transition of trained souls to higher states of consciousness / density / dimension, corresponding to the frequency of the light they emit and free choice, we are rapidly changing, which inevitably affects the functions of the main organs and systems of the body.

In this material, we will consider the connection between the pituitary gland and the pineal gland, the pituitary gland and the ajna center, the pituitary gland and the thyroid gland, the pituitary gland and the pancreas, the pituitary gland and, both from an esoteric and scientific point of view.

The article presented to your attention continues the cycle of previously published materials about the endocrine system, begun in and .

ENDOCRINE SYSTEM AND ITS RELATIONSHIP WITH THE CHAKRA

The endocrine system, at the top of which is the pituitary gland, pineal gland and hypothalamus, is not just a physiological system that provides secretion and is responsible for the human hormonal background.

The endocrine glands form the great connective system of the body, being an externalization of the etheric centers or their external, physical counterpart.

In other words, the endocrine system is an analogue of the centers in the etheric body (chakras), is closely connected with them, like a person with a soul, and is revitalized by energies coming from different dimensions and planes. But, first of all, from the etheric, vital or life body - the physical analogue of the causal or causal body of the soul.

7 main glands * interact in a special way, feeding from the vital or etheric body and pointing to the evolutionary point of attainment of man, his nature and expressed consciousness.

The endocrine glands have both physiological and psychological effects on the personality and its internal and external contacts and connections, leading to various psychosomatic, physiological and mental reactions.

Hyperfunction, an increase in size or functional insufficiency of the endocrine glands is a consequence not so much of physical processes in the human body, as orthodox science considers them, but also of mental ones, as in. In addition, in occultism, the physical body is not considered as a principle, due to more subtle influences on human nature.

An indicator of functional changes in the endocrine system is the subtle bodies and their balance with each other. And these are the "invisible" and often imperceptible influences of pranic, sexual and spiritual energies, meeting the resistance of the body due to the absence of the guiding intelligence of consciousness.

Data and lead to all sorts of deviations and lack of health or impaired circulation, as in energy centers and, as a consequence, in the endocrine glands.

The pineal, thyroid and thymus glands are the main receivers, transmitters and transducers of lower energies for merging them with the energies of the soul and spirit. However, the pituitary gland also plays an important role in this ensemble, as we will see later.

After all, for example, the pituitary gland or the pituitary gland creates a mood and coordinates the activity of different glands of the body, controlling individual biorhythms and body development processes.

The key role of the pituitary gland is to set in motion the genetic program of the body's puberty, as well as the very moment of turning on sex hormones at a certain age.

At the time of puberty and until its end, due to the increase / activity of the pituitary gland and gonads, the pineal gland begins to gradually atrophy and by the age of 21 its internal potential becomes dormant.

However, if a growing person responds adequately to the manifestations of a hormonal storm, the pineal gland, acting on the pituitary gland, slows down the process of turning on this function.

Moreover, it allows consciousness to create a barrier between the response of hormones to stimulation and the urge to action, thereby determining a person's ability to control his sexual nature.

TRADITIONAL KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THE PIPOPHYSIS. PINEAL GLAND

So what is hypophysislower cerebral appendage, located at the base of the brain in
bone pocket, called the Turkish saddle, and influencing the growth, development, metabolism of the body?

And why is the natural magic of an organ so great, the weight of which is no more than 1 gram, the normal height is 3-8 mm, and the width is 10-17 mm?

Is it the only thing here in the hormonal "abilities" of the pituitary gland? I'm sure not only. And you can also verify this by reading the article to the end.

Without going into the anatomical and physiological features of the pituitary gland, I will only note that its hormonal background depends on many factors, but the most important effect on it is the pineal gland, which, being located, anatomically behind, is the physical manifestation of the Soul or its hidden light, which transforms the light of the personality ...

It is interesting in this connection to consider modern biological studies of the human pineal gland from the point of view of the influence of light, which I did not touch upon in the previous material.

According to scientific evidence, the pineal gland is an integral part of photoneuroendocrine system... Such familiar daylight for us has an inhibitory effect on the activity of the pineal gland, and darkness has a stimulating effect. Light does not penetrate directly to the pineal gland, but the latter has a ganglionic connection with the retina: the retina perceives light and sends signals along the retino-hypothalamic tract to the hypothalamus, from where, through a chain of neurons, they reach the cervical region of the sympathetic nervous system, switch to ascending sympathetic fibers that pass through the upper the cervical ganglion inside the skull and finally innervates (feeds) the pineal gland.

Hence the greatest importance of meditation and lucid dreaming. The first - stimulate the pineal gland, through the stimulation of internal luminescence, and the second - activate the sleeping consciousness, awakening it to the possibility of functioning in the area of the unconscious.

However, it would be wrong to consider the pituitary gland outside of connection with the brain and its functions, both personal and spiritual.

BRAIN, Pituitary, Pineal and Carotid Glands

Djual Khul or a Tibetan teacher who gave the world through A.A. Bailey 5 Treatises of Fundamental Knowledge, provides some provisions in the form of three basic statements that will help you realize the connection of the pituitary gland with the alt center and the pineal gland.

1. The brain is the thinnest transmitting and receiving apparatus:

and. He receives the information that the feelings convey to him from the emotional plane and from the mind.

b. With its help, the lower personal “I” is aware of its environment, the nature of its desires and its mental characteristics, and learns about the emotional states and thoughts of the people around it.

2. The brain is predominantly conditioned by the endocrine system and much more than endocrinologists dare to admit:

and. It is especially strongly caused by three important glands that are directly related to the substance of the brain. it pituitary, pineal and carotid gland.

b. They form a triangle with practically unconnected vertices in a primitive person, sometimes connecting in a moderately developed person and firmly connected in a spiritual person.

in. These glands are the objective correspondence of the three energy centers through which the soul, or the inner spiritual person, controls its physical vehicle.

d. The dense interaction of the three glands - as in the ever-growing number of disciples - always forms a triangle of circulating energies.

etc. Through the carotid gland in the medulla oblongata, this triangle is connected to other glands and centers.

The two main centers (corresponding to atma-buddhi or soul) are the head center and the alta center; esoterically they correspond to the agents of distribution - the right and left eyes, as well as the two glands of the head: the pineal and pituitary glands.

Thus, three triangles are formed in the head, of which two distribute energy, and the third - force.

And here I quote the words of Max's student Handelwho decided to remain anonymous:

“It is interesting to note that the thyroid gland, which was once a sex gland, arises in the embryo from the same tissue and almost from the same place as the anterior lobe of the pituitary gland: the thyroid gland becomes a process in front, and the anterior lobe of the pituitary gland - a process behind the same fabric.

The anterior lobe of the pituitary gland has been called the gland of the intellect, implying the mind's ability to control its environment. through concepts and abstract ideas. All this confirms what Max Handel said that the nature of the generating force is creative, manifesting itself through the brain or organs of reproduction.

The action of the thyroid gland is more directly manifested on the inner and outer membranes of the body, skin, mucous membranes, hair, irritability and readiness of the nerves to respond.

The pituitary gland acts more on the body frame, skeleton, its mechanical supports and motors.

The thyroid gland increases the energy level of the brain and the entire nervous system.

The pituitary gland directly stimulates brain cells.

The thyroid gland facilitates the production of energy, the pituitary gland controls its consumption.

The thyroid gland is closely related to the regulation of body shape and forms organs in accordance with their archetypes. "

DUAL / SPIRITUAL AND ASTROLOGICAL QUALITIES OF THE PIPOPHYSIS

Meditation is one of the best methods of treatment and relief from fear, and its positive effects have been recognized by many famous psychiatrists and famous personalities. The data on the medicinal properties of meditation are supported by scientific research.

Many Christians think that meditation is bad, meditation is dangerous, because they are inspired by their priests. In articles like: "Why is meditation dangerous?" But esoteric (hidden) knowledge exists in all religions. In the Christian religion there is the esotericism of the cult, there is the sacrament of life in Christ, and other sacraments (baptism, weddings). In addition, the esoteric aspect in Christianity is represented by Saint John (the pagan baptist of Christ, and his beloved disciple at the same time). For the same Christians, there is a long gazing at the icon, and this is already a meditative practice, and it is foolish to deny it. At the same time, prayer is often used, which is also quite close to meditation. In prayer, there is a periodic repetition of one or two words, as a rule this is an appeal to God. And the constant repetition of a sound, or a word for a certain time, is already tantra. Therefore, the healing properties of meditation should not be neglected.

In addition, meditation is badly treated, since it is still taken from Buddhist practice. They don't need competition. But the same clergy say that there is one god. And, therefore, another religion, it is just a different path to this god. Therefore, all the insinuations about the dangers of meditation are simply a restriction of believers in the possibility of choice, and protecting them from the possibility of knowing something else, and God forbid, switch to another religion. This means that even if you are a true Christian, you can use it for your own purposes. But I am not insisting on using meditation, I am simply stating the facts.

What is meditation?

Meditation is a conscious communication of a person with the Supreme (God, creator, Absolute, higher mind, information field, nature) no matter what you call it. Often a person is afraid, because he does not perceive the creator as love, but understands him as an omnipotent formidable being (not even an entity). Many people see God as a formidable grandfather sitting on a cloud. The meditator finds, establishes a connection with the higher essence, and his fears begin to pass, and the realization comes that God is love, life, this awareness saves a person from the most important fear - the fear of death. And it is from this fear (the instinct of self-preservation) that many others, less significant, arise.

Everything from the fear of mice and spiders to the fear of contagious diseases is based on this fear. In addition, we are too attached to the perishable world, and a person is afraid of losing a lot of what he has: his body, comfortable things, those around him, money, love of children and others. A person is fearless when he has nothing to lose. We must understand and accept that we are mortal.

Meditation can help us with this. Often, people do not believe in their own death, and separate themselves from the rest of the world. Helping to realize yourself as part of the universe, to reduce anxiety - this is the effect of meditation. She calms, pacifies a person, tries on him with fate. Samurai, for example, could be constantly in fear, being constantly close to death, but they did not allow the instinct of self-preservation to cloud their sanity. The most important thing for a person is life, and all accumulated values do not matter if you are dying or dead. Therefore, the samurai imagined that they had already died, or they would die anyway (and this happens to everyone sooner or later) and there is only one way for them to take revenge on the enemy, or the enemy. Actually, they had nothing to lose, and therefore they almost always won, even if they fought 1 against 5.

So yogis and martial artists fought fear by exercising their will and practicing meditation. Many ancient warriors could enter themselves into a state of combat trance, and it is in this state that adrenaline, intensely released by the body at the moment of fear, does not weaken the will, but, on the contrary, promotes the "boil" of the blood. Learn more about manifestations of fear. Those. they simply transferred their negative emotions to loved ones, but anger and rage acting oppositely. Alexander the Great, for example, one of the experienced commanders and successful military psychologists (they don't even argue with this) tried to recruit his army only those people who, when faced with danger, do not turn pale, but blush. Because when a person blushes, there is not a shedding of blood to the skeletal muscles of the limbs and heart, as with strong fear, but, on the contrary, grafting blood to the head. If a person is afraid, his arms and legs become numb, he cannot walk and hold a weapon. And, therefore, he is a bad warrior. And the rush of blood to the head quickly leads to a state of fearlessness.

Brain activity during meditation

During meditation, interesting processes take place in our brain, however, completely, not fully understood. But even the studies that have been carried out give an amazing result. There are many different studies of meditation. They are practically not held here. I relied on data from studies of brain activity during group meditation conducted by J.P. Banquet, using EEG. Initial phase: "in the initial phases of meditation, the subjects showed a tendency to slow down the frequencies of electrical activity by 1-2 counts / sec." "The pattern of this first phase of meditation was repeated at the end of the meditation as well, and with a greater abundance of alpha waves - they became more prolonged." The third phase: “a pattern of generalized fast frequencies with dominant betarhythmic - 20 counts / sec. This activity was interspersed with spindle-shaped flashes of the alpha and theta bands.

So, the data of most studies of meditative practices, speak of slowing down and alpha waves and increasing their number, and increasing the amplitude. In addition, the work of the heart slows down, the body temperature changes, our relationship with reality, and strangely enough, the work of the brain increases. During meditation, the brain does not rest, like the heart and other organs, as one might think, but, on the contrary, works in an enhanced mode. Moreover, only those parts of our brain work hard that are responsible for friendship (friendliness to others), love, sex, creativity, and those that respond to bad habits: tobacco smoking and alcohol addiction, aggression, are practically turned off. Hence, the constant use of meditation negates negative addictions. Meditation has a positive effect on the entire body as a whole, it rests and gains strength, and the brain cells do not rest, but are actively dividing.

The work of the hypothalamus during meditation

The hypothalamus is actively involved in meditation. The hypothalamus is the part of the brain that controls heart rate, pulse, body temperature, and other functions. The temperature of the human body, oddly enough, is a very important factor, it not only speaks of the disease, it has an even more interesting purpose. Body temperature is responsible for the aging of our body, the lower it is, the slower aging is. On our land there have been and still are people who are aging very quickly, and there are those who do not grow up and do not age at all. Perhaps you have seen such people on TV, and this is not a recent trend, such people have always existed.

In Scotland in the XII century, there was a girl named Mary who quickly grew old and died at 23 years old. Vasily Mikhailov lived and also grew old quickly, and died at the age of 19, by the end of his life he looked like a decrepit old man. Thomas Sheffield also died “of old age” at age 18. These are facts recorded by science and described in medicine. Today there are two "young old men" living on earth. Science explains the rapid aging of people by the high temperature of their body. all those who age rapidly had a temperature higher than usual.

Body temperature control

Control over body temperature occurs precisely in the hypothalamus. They attribute this to the fact that all of these people had genetic malfunctions or brain injuries. Llamas meditate, use the hypothalamus, and they can control body temperature, heartbeat and pulse by reducing the activity of the body and "conserve" it. At the same time, they can fall into a long-term state, which is somewhere between sleep and reality, this is a state like a trance, or an altered state of consciousness. They can get out of it even after a few years. The effects of meditation are only beneficial; all its researchers believe that with the help it is impossible to get rid of various psychological and psychosomatic disorders. Such curable meditation disorders usually include: increased anxiety, phobias, post-traumatic consequences, stress, muscle tension, insomnia, and mild depression. Regular use of meditation for a long time will help reduce drug, alcohol and tobacco addiction, it can be recommended for patients and prisoners as a means of reducing anxiety, aggression and relapse tendencies.

Newer research, and better control, have found that many of the physiological effects found in meditation may actually be caused by other self-control techniques such as relaxation, biofeedback, or self-hypnosis. But meditation is still a more universal tool.

I must say that meditation cures not only fears, but depression and nervous tension, and generally restores the mental state of a person. In addition, cases have been recorded when bodily diseases are treatable with meditation. In particular, ophthalmic diseases, and even slowed down the progression of HIV.

MEDITATION (lat. "Reflection") inner concentration and concentration of the mind, control of one's own thought processes. Historically originated in various religious practices (Buddhism, Sufism, Judaism, Taoism). In its modern form, it is used in psychotherapy as a method of mental relaxation and the achievement of ASC.

Scientific research on the effect of meditation on the physiological and psychological state of a person.

There are many types of meditation. These are transcendental meditation, chakra yoga, rinzai-zen, mudra-yoga, sufism, zen-meditation, za-zen, soto-zen, Taoist meditation practices (qigong), etc.

Because meditation is so popular and easy to learn, it is one of the most studied relaxation techniques. Studies have confirmed the effect of meditation on the physiological and psychological state (J. Greenberg):

The physiological effects of meditation have been discovered through the study of Indian yogis and Zen masters. In 1946, Teresa Brosse discovered that Indian yogis can control their heartbeat. Another study showed that Indian yogis can slow down their breathing (up to six breaths per minute), reduce the electrical activity of their skin by 70% (an indicator of galvanic skin response), and the brain begins to produce predominantly alpha waves. The heart rate is reduced by twenty-four beats per minute, in contrast to normal. Subsequent studies of yogis and Zen masters confirmed the results.

More recent studies have attempted to test previously discovered physiological effects of meditation. J. Ellison compared the breathing rhythm of a meditating person with the breathing rhythm of watching TV and reading a book. In the process of meditation, breathing slowed down from twelve and a half breaths per minute to seven. The slowing down of breathing during meditation has been found and confirmed in all studies on this topic.

A group of scientists have identified the effect of muscle relaxation during meditation. In the experiment of L.D. Tsaykovsky and the study of Richard A. Fee, it was shown that the degree of muscle tension in meditators is much lower than in the control group who do not practice meditation.

A decrease in heart rate was found in earlier studies of Indian yogis and has been verified since then. When comparing experienced practitioners (five years of experience) with less experienced practitioners (one year) and beginners (seven days of experience), as well as with people practicing other relaxation techniques, it was found that the most noticeable decrease in heart rate was observed in experienced and less experienced people practicing meditation. Even when watching films about accidents, the heartbeat of people who practice meditation returned to normal faster than those who did not practice.

Galvanic skin response - the ability of the skin to generate an electrical charge - is different for meditators from those who do not. The weaker the electrical charge, the less stress a person is exposed to. These discoveries led scientists to the following conclusion: people who practice meditation cope better with stress, and their autonomic nervous system is more stable.

So, it has been proven that meditation has a positive effect on high blood pressure, prevents overstrain, relieves pain, reduces cortisol levels, as well as the amount of digested alcohol, that is, most of it is excreted from the body. In addition, it has been shown that people who practice meditation are less likely to go to health services. This, in turn, saves money for the organization they work for.

The prerequisite for a series of new studies was the experiment of Robert Keith Wallace. Wallace was the first to study the effects of meditation scientifically. In his first study and in subsequent work with Herbert Benson, Wallace showed that as a result of meditation, less oxygen enters the body, the heart rate and brain wave activity decrease. He also demonstrated that meditation increases skin resistance, decreases blood production (which has been linked to decreased anxiety), and carbon dioxide production. The process of meditation also increases blood flow to the limbs.

Since body and psyche are inseparable from each other, we should not be surprised that physiological changes cause psychological ones. Many studies have confirmed the fact that people who practice meditation have better psychological health than others.

For example, people who practice meditation have been found to be less anxious. More importantly, however, anxiety can be reduced by teaching people meditation. After eighteen weeks of meditation training, the students' examination anxiety decreased. Various studies have shown that anxiety - whether it is a character trait or a condition - decreases after some time of meditation.

In addition to reducing anxiety, scientists have found that meditation helps to establish an internal locus of control, more successful self-realization, more positive perception of stressors, better sleep, reduced need for smoking, relief from headaches, and positive mental health in general. In a comprehensive review of the psychological effects of meditation, Shapiro and Gibert cite examples of studies that found that meditation reduces drug cravings, fears, and phobias. Meditation is a wonderful way to manage stress, as well as a source of positive emotions for a person. Even eating disorders can be eliminated through meditation.

Since the late 1950s, many experimental observations have been carried out in China, and a large amount of data has been accumulated. Dong Jintu in the article "Scientific Qigong and Biological Reflection" (Ma Jiren, M. Bogachikhin "Qigong") pointed out that only in the 1970s accelerated methods of research in this area appeared abroad. Studies by Bensen (China) have shown that qigong, by changing mainly the functions of the hypothalamus, affects the transition from stress response to relaxation response. In the state of the relaxation reaction, the physiological changes in the trainee are as follows: the amount of oxygen consumed, blood pressure, heart rate and respiration, the content of lactic acid in the blood of the arteries decrease: the amount of blood flow in the motionless muscles of the forearms slightly increases, slow alpha waves are formed in the cerebral cortex; simultaneously, the activity of the sympathetic nervous system decreases throughout the body. Foreign analysis of this mechanism completely coincided with the results of research in China in the 50s.

According to the famous scientist Qian Xuesen, the study of qigong will provide new information about the reactions of psychological activity to the functioning of the internal regions of the whole body, and since people usually still lack clarity about qigong, potencies are not used - we are talking about the hidden forces of man.

Thus, along with a direct healing effect, meditation touches the deepest spiritual layers of a person's life, opening access to those parts of the personality that in everyday life are closed by everyday worries, problems and social masks. Meditation is a way to establish a dialogue between consciousness and subconsciousness. During meditation, the content of the subconscious "emerges", manifests itself in consciousness. Meditative practice contributes to the development of intuition, awakens it, which can become an important resource in everyday life, especially when solving creative, non-standard tasks.

The meditation method is one of the important methods of psychological self-regulation and can be successfully applied to prevent and combat stress (including occupational stress).

The meditation method can be used both to obtain quick psychotherapeutic results and long-term ones. Practice shows that even short-term meditation practices have a positive effect on human health. Longer sessions develop more sustainable self-regulation skills.

People who practice meditation cope better with stress, and their autonomic nervous system is more stable, they are less anxious. More importantly, however, anxiety can be reduced by teaching people meditation.

Along with a direct healing effect, meditation touches on the deepest spiritual layers of a person's life, opening access to those parts of the personality that in everyday life are closed by everyday worries, problems and social masks.

Mastering meditation requires regular practice. In order for knowledge to become personal in the full sense - as an integral part of one's own "I", as a habitual and well-adjusted tool for work - it must be based on personal practice.

MEDITATION AND PSYCHOPHYSIOLOGY

Since the last decades of the twentieth century, the psychologization of the life of society has been increasing, in recent years it has been proceeding so rapidly that it is sometimes considered a psychological revolution. A significant consequence of the psychologization of modern life is that various methods of psychotherapy, psychophysical self-regulation, personal growth and spiritual self-improvement, which help a person find their place in a changing world, are becoming more and more in demand.

Modern psychotherapy is characterized by the combination of modern scientific ideas about mental and physical health with centuries of experience in traditional spiritual health practices. A lot has been said recently about the integration of traditional ("alternative", especially Eastern) and classical ("scientific") medicine. And in practice, we see that modern integrative psychological technologies largely use the experience of traditional spiritual practices. In essence, their tasks are similar. Thus, the resolution of psychological problems and the resulting personal growth, to which psychotherapy seeks, are close to the concept of "enlightenment" in the traditions of spiritual development.

There are several definitions of spiritual health. In accordance with some of them, the concept of spirituality is related to the existence of a certain Supreme Being, while in others, spirituality is associated with interpersonal relationships and the search for one's place in the world. For example, according to one definition, spirituality is adherence to a particular religion. From another point of view, spiritual health lies in the ability to recognize and fulfill a life task, the ability to bring love, joy and peace, to help oneself and others to fully realize themselves. There are many studies that support the link between spirituality and health. For example, scientists have found that religiosity and spirituality reduce the impact of psychological stress, the risk of physical illness, and change moral attitudes. The researchers also concluded that spirituality promotes the adoption of healthier behaviors. Meditative practices that were used by our ancestors several thousand years ago for healing and longevity are gaining more and more recognition in modern psychotherapy.

Meditative practices refer to methods of psychophysical self-regulation. Meditation has its roots in Eastern culture (mainly Tibetan and Chinese). Meditation is a brain exercise that affects the state of the body. Just like any physical exercise affects the mental state, meditation affects the physiology.

Thus, since meditation is an integral part of the Reiki method, I would like to draw your attention to positive impact, which meditative practices have on the psychophysical state of a person. And give several arguments from a scientific point of view.

The psychophysical components of meditation are: control over breathing, muscle tone, emotions, thought flow and attention.

The benefits of breathing control

It is known that a person in a stress situation is characterized by shallow (shallow), rapid or intermittent chest breathing; for a person at rest, relaxation and comfort, it is slow abdominal breathing. Usually, the breathing process (like heart contractions, gastrointestinal motility, etc.) occurs automatically. With the help of meditative practices, you can learn to carefully monitor your breathing, be aware of it, maintain abdominal breathing, mentally direct the breath to the desired part of the body. Abdominal breathing is a convenient and quite effective tool for neutralizing anxiety, excitement, outbursts of negative emotions, which is often sufficient for a person to be able to calm down in a situation of sudden short-term stress. Along with the fact that deep, slow abdominal breathing is subconsciously associated with a state of rest and relaxation, its anti-stress mechanism is also stimulation of the vagus nerve (the main link of the parasympathetic autonomic nervous system), which contributes to overall relaxation.

In meditation, breathing through a specific area of the body is often practiced. What does it mean to breathe supposedly through some part of the body? Naturally, this is an imaginary breath that exists only in the imagination of the brain. Physiologically, no breathing through the skin or body organs can occur. In fact, the sensation of "extrapulmonary" breathing suggests that a temporary connection has been established between two parts of the brain: on the one hand, receiving information from the airways, from the respiratory muscles, and, on the other hand, receiving information from the corresponding area of the body not connected with breathing. As a result of changes in sensations in a selected area of the body, first of all, rhythmic fluctuations in their intensity occur synchronously with the phases of the respiratory cycle (usually weakening of intensity on inspiration and strengthening on expiration). The formation of such a temporary connection between different foci of excitation in the brain, their influence on each other, underlies various practically useful phenomena - the fight against pain, the ability to control one's own pulse, or blood pressure, or mood. The criterion for the correctness of the exercise (mental direction of breathing to a given area of the body) is the synchronization of breathing and sensations in the selected part of the body. Usually, the simultaneity and unidirectionality of changes in the intensity of sensations with the phases of the respiratory cycle is noted, for example, strengthening on inspiration and weakening on expiration.

Many meditations use the hand breathing method. Why does focusing on the sensations in the hands have a noticeable effect on the state of the brain, and the body as a whole? In order to understand and visualize the very special role of our palms and fingers in the body, one should refer to the diagram created by the Canadian neurosurgeon W. Penfield, in which he depicted the projection of the body onto the surface of the cerebral cortex. This diagram shows that the size of the areas of the cerebral cortex does not depend on the size of the corresponding parts of the body, but on their significance for the body. And therefore, the area occupied by the projection area of the hand is larger than any other part of the body - the torso, the head, and others. Therefore, focusing on the sensations associated with the hand captures a much larger area of the cortex than for any other part of the body, and, accordingly, has a greater effect on the state of the brain and consciousness.

It is important to note that with arousal, sudden fear, the ratio of the time of inhalation to the time of the respiratory cycle also increases - the inhalation becomes longer. Accordingly, a person who is in a state of relaxation is characterized by the opposite relationship. In meditation, the function of a longer exhalation is used for more complete relaxation and calming of emotions - muscle relaxation at the moment of exhalation.

The benefits of controlling muscle tone

Muscle tension is an indicator of stress. The deeper the state of stress in which a person is, the higher the muscle tone. With depression, an increase in the tone of the respiratory muscles is found, and with anxiety and fear - the occipital muscles and muscle groups associated with speech. Thus, to normalize the psychophysical state of a person, relieve manifestations of stress, muscle relaxation is imperative. Conversely, just as muscle tension (especially neck muscles) is an indicator of activation, emotional arousal, so muscle relaxation indicates a state of rest and relaxation is the key to achieving it.

Deep muscle relaxation leads to the release of anti-stress or stress-limiting substances that stimulate the brain's pleasure centers - the so-called endogenous opiates or endorphins. Such activation of the natural physiological mechanism of pleasure gives not only pleasant feelings of relaxation, but can also be considered as prevention of a specific stress disorder - pleasure deficit syndrome, which is considered a scourge of modern society. The well-known yoga postures-asanas and qigong practices have a healing effect largely because in order to perform them, a person must relax the corresponding muscle groups.

The benefits of controlling emotions

Breathing is known to be one of the most important functions of the body. The nature of breathing (its depth, rhythm, etc.) very subtly reflects the emotional state of a person, is a sensitive indicator, a litmus test for emotions. With the help of breathing, you can not only monitor emotions, but also manage them.

With the help of properly regulated breathing, you can relieve psycho-emotional stress, release unreacted emotions and achieve "functional release." Learning to control your emotions is quite simple - you need to feel your own body, to catch the changes taking place in it associated with emotions. The fact is that the amount of human attention is very limited. At every moment of time, we receive a lot of information both from the outside and from within - from our own organism, which we simply do not pay attention to. A person often literally does not notice that he lives in his own body.

The elementary skill of self-observation, tracking sensations is an important tool for mobilizing attention, which in itself can serve as an effective way to control emotions. In fact, this is the ability of a person to be completely captured by direct experience, to be in a state of "here and now." For example, the Taoist Inner Smile meditation is based on visualizing the energy of a smile and directing it to the organs of the body. At the same time, the sensations entering the brain from the facial mimic muscles (feedback) are one of the most important psychophysiological mechanisms of emotions.

The benefits of controlling thought flow

Thought flow can be controlled with focused attention, calm breathing, and muscle relaxation. Decreased muscle tone reduces the flow of information from muscles to the brain, allowing it to rest. Moreover, the effect is observed twofold: a decrease in both the specific sensory impulses coming from the muscles to the cortex of the cerebral hemispheres, and nonspecific - from the muscles to the activating system of the brain (reticular formation), which maintains the cerebral cortex in a wakeful state. In conditions of deep muscle relaxation, due to the "unoccupied" of the brain neurons with information processing, their readiness for synchronization increases. And this, in turn, leads to special - the so-called altered states of consciousness, which play a healing role for a person.

As shown by electrophysiological studies - recording of EEG (biocurrents of the brain) in the state of ASC (altered state of consciousness), achieved during deep meditation, the difference between the hemispheres - their asymmetry levels out, disappears. Then a person comes to a state without time and space, a state in which there are no insoluble contradictions, when seemingly diametrically opposite points of view are combined, integrated, the internal problems of the organism are resolved - both physiological and psychological.

The entry into ASC is facilitated by a number of points that help to change the functional state of the brain, the state of consciousness:

Focusing on internal sensations, reducing the influx of external stimuli to the brain and thereby helping to distract from the surrounding reality, from the external world and plunge into the depths of the internal world.

Breathing that holds attention in its measured rhythm and forces attention to follow itself, and also helps to direct it to specific parts of the body.

Relaxation in a comfortable position that reduces the flow of information from the muscles to the brain and helps it sink into a state of rest.

In ASC, the relationship of the hemispheres changes. Taking into account the asymmetry of the hemispheres, their mutual balancing looks like a movement towards each other: the more active, dominant hemisphere decreases its activity, while the opposite hemisphere, previously relatively passive, on the contrary, is activated. As you know, stress can cause dissociation of the cerebral hemispheres when they cease to coordinate their opinions and actions. Because of this, in a stressful environment, a person often acts impulsively and thoughtlessly. By mastering the techniques of meditation, you can learn to regulate the activity of the cerebral hemispheres. For example, one of the ways to reduce the activity of the dominant hemisphere (in right-handers - the left, "conscious" hemisphere) is to suppress its specific function - speech. This means not just ordinary silence, but inner silence - stopping habitual, verbally formed thoughts, stopping the dialogue constantly flowing inside us, the so-called "mental pause", or "inner silence".

From the point of view of modern science, one can distinguish such basic features of ASC, such as (1) redistribution of roles between consciousness and subconsciousness. In the usual waking state, our consciousness commands the subconscious (at least tries), suppresses it. In an altered state, the consciousness, as it were, becomes silent for a while, turns off, lets go of the "reins of government", fading into the background. At the same time, the subconscious mind “takes power into its own hands,” sharply activates. At the same time, the reserves of the subconscious are mobilized, helping to solve urgent external problems - in particular, to find a way out in an extreme situation, for example, to save one's life. It must be borne in mind that if in situations associated with a physical threat to life, this happens automatically, then in everyday life situations such use of subconscious reserves must be learned. (2) Solving internal, psychological problems. For problems related to the past, this is achieved by replacing the emotional "label" associated with an unpleasant memory. The solution of problems projected into the future, associated with internal barriers, stereotypes, is achieved through the formation of new connections, new choices that expand the narrow framework of a stereotyped response.

In addition, ASCs bring with them some other beneficial effects. Here you can rest, and relieve the effects of stress, and activate the body's natural regenerative processes, which helps to heal stress-related diseases (which is widely used by modern healers - both in white coats and without them). Stopping thoughts (the state of “not thinking”), along with rest and relieving nervous tension, eliminating the problem of “getting stuck” in unpleasant reflections, allows you to overcome the limitations and inflexibility of conscious logic, which we have already said, listen to the opinion of the subconscious, peer into the depths of intuition ...

Meditation is sometimes called the gap between thoughts - when the old thought has gone ... the "arrival" of the new one is delayed; termination of internal dialogue. Experiencing a state of inner peace makes it possible to know oneself, to listen to the voice of the subconscious, to gain access to inner wisdom that helps to find a way out of a difficult situation, to release accumulated emotions or get rid of annoying physical discomfort. This is the most effective remedy for stress and internal problems. The remedy is perhaps the most difficult - and at the same time, the simplest. Difficult at the beginning, as you master it, it becomes very simple, almost automatic.

The benefits of focused attention

You can direct your attention by mentally moving to different parts of the body. The effect of focusing attention on certain areas and physical boundaries of the body occupies an important place in the internal psychological map of a person and is associated with a stable "image of oneself" (in the language of physiology, called "body schema"), which affects self-esteem and relationships with others. A person is "moored" to reality at both ends of the body: below through contact with the ground, and above through the crown of the head. A similar approach is used in Taoist meditative practices (qigong), where special attention is paid to these three “tips of the body”: (1) the crown of the head - to enhance the sensation of the ascending currents of “energy” (the border “man - sky”); (2) palms - reproduction of the feeling of support in the fingers and palms (the border "person - person") and (3) feet - an increase in the feeling of descending streams of "energy" (border "person - earth").

The distribution of "body-directed" attention simultaneously to a large number of objects (for example, to several different parts of the body at the same time), is close to the maximum throughput of the channel of conscious perception according to G. Miller - about 7 or exceeding it, causes the so-called sensory overload and contributes to the formation a special state of consciousness. In a similar way, it affects the state of consciousness and the alignment of sensations in the remote areas of the left and right halves of the body, contributing to the achievement of a balance of activity of the left and right hemispheres.

Focused attention exercises, in addition to health goals, have important practical uses in daily life. The ability to manage attention helps a person quickly come to his senses in a situation of sudden stress, when “the earth is floating underfoot” and emotional balance and composure are lost. This skill can be vital for people suffering from panic attacks, for whom it helps to get rid of the sensations of "impending loss of consciousness." To do this, you just need to take a few deep breaths and exhalations and switch your attention one by one to each of the described boundaries, starting with the "earth".

Thus, you see that all the psychophysiological components of meditation are closely related to each other. Calm slow breathing, muscle relaxation, directed attention lead to calming thoughts and normalizes psychophysical consciousness. They can be successfully applied in everyday life. Regular meditation practice encourages a person to develop self-regulation skills that allow him to constantly maintain calm and well-being. Favorably affects the physical and mental state, calm breathing, the absence of excessive tension in the muscles; directed attention allows you to control emotions, calmness of thoughts - to adequately respond to any event in life. And there is no mysticism in this. Everything is scientifically based.

Meditation treatment

The fact that meditation treatment may have long been recognized at the scientific level. World-famous psychologists use a similar technique for patients with various phobias or mental disorders. The healing properties of meditation sessions are aimed at relieving depression and bad mood.

Some Christians deny the correctness of meditation. This prejudice arises from the work and speech of church leaders. But if you dig deeper, it becomes obvious that meditation practices were used during the life of Christ and his disciples.

For example, the sacrament of such rituals as baptism or wedding. During long prayers, believers fix their gaze for a long time on the image of God. At this moment, a connection with the Higher Intelligence is established. What is it? Isn't it similar to meditation?

And the constant repetition of the same words when addressing God can be compared with tantra. And meditation treatment has also been and is being used by Christians. After all, everyone has heard of conspiracies, and their effectiveness is also known. As you can see, the religion of Christians has a lot in common with various practices of the East.

What is meditation?

Meditation arose to establish a person's contact with the Universal Forces. Everyone chooses for himself who he is addressing. And in fact, this is absolutely unimportant, since the main thing is faith in the Supreme Essence, in its power. If you communicate with God, you find peace of mind, peace and happiness, you find love in your heart.

It is impossible to deny that meditation treatment, first of all, helps to eliminate the most terrible fear of most people - the fear of death, the fear of the unknown. Because of constant thoughts about the finiteness of life, a person kills himself from the inside. He begins to invent various phobias for himself. This is due to the close relationship with the physical shell. Only the awareness of mortality and acceptance of this will free one from negative thoughts.

Healing meditation can go a long way in dealing with fears. Many great commanders knew about this, because thanks to this knowledge they remained undefeated. By meditating, ancient warriors could completely abandon external problems and fill their blood with adrenaline. This state is called the fighting trance state.

The famous fearlessness and courage of the samurai was possible because they were not attached to anything earthly. They understood that they were mortal, so they were not afraid to die. It can be argued that meditation treatment restored strength on the battlefields and gave the will to win.

Brain work during meditation

During meditation, the human brain continues to work as usual, even more actively. In contrast, other organs and systems slow down their functioning. This applies to heartbeat, temperature, breathing. The lesson allows the body to completely relax and gain strength. The brain is fully functional and affects thinking and general condition.

Moreover, it is very interesting that meditative practice awakens only certain parts of the brain, namely those that are responsible for friendship, mutual help, love, sex, and respect. The same cells that cause various addictions, addictions, are suppressed and fall asleep. This beneficial effect is the reason that meditation treatment is used in psychology and psychiatry.

The work of the hypothalamus during meditation

When a person plunges into a meditative state, the hypothalamus is actively involved. Its functioning is aimed at managing many vital processes in the body. These include body temperature, heart rate, blood pressure, and so on.

We are all accustomed to associating fever with any disease or inflammatory process. But this is not the only reason for changing this parameter. For some people, the temperature is always higher than usual. They are at risk, as they have a predisposition to rapid aging of the body.

There is evidence of how very young people aged by the age of twenty, both externally and internally. Unfortunately, this kind of disease is fatal. At the moment, there are two people living on our planet who are aging abnormally quickly. Science claims that it depends on genetics or mechanical damage to the hypothalamus.

What Meditation Treatment Is Used For

Humanity has long shown interest in the longevity of the Tibetan elders. Lamas own all the processes of their body. They use meditation treatments to slow down aging. The trance state can last for months, and sometimes years. This is comparable to conservation. The physical body and the soul remain young. Llamas mainly control their body temperature.

Psychological research shows that meditation treatment is most effective for stress and depression. Also, this practice eliminates any fears that prevent you from fully enjoying life. Patients suffering from chronic fatigue syndrome can solve their problem through meditation. It eliminates the causes of insomnia, helps to survive the consequences of trauma, relieves anxiety.

Meditative practices are used to combat alcohol or gambling addiction. Even heavy smokers quit smoking only after a few courses with a psychologist. Meditation treatment is popular among prisoners, because mental disorders often occur in colonies.

In addition to mental illness, there has been a successful struggle with meditation and bodily ailments. There have even been cases where meditation treatment cured people from cancer or slowed down the course of HIV.

In the video above, you can listen to Reiki healing meditation, which has a very powerful healing effect that can be used to treat many diseases.
